The Tescao school in Atlanta is not a typical martial arts school. The school was started in 2003 by Alexei Ovtchinnikov to teach a hand full of students a Tibetan fighting system called Tescao. The original school is located in Novosibirsk, Russia.
The school has a unique policy for accepting new students. Although anyone can enroll and express interest in joining, you must first pass an interview process. After it, you will be placed on a waiting list until there is an opening. Once your training starts, you will be evaluated on your hard work and attendance during the first year. This one year evaluation will determine if you will be accepted as an official student at the school.
Tescao focuses on a magnitude of body conditioning exercises that improve overall health, coordination and flexibility. After students advance through basic exercises and learn body mechanics, they begin to practice one on one combat and learn actual fighting techniques. The techniques focus on learning self-defense and mitigating injuries in a given situation.
